Costume Making

The Alli/Reed team had to make costumes for our civilization project exhibition at HTH International, we had to wear our costumes that we made to the exhibithion. First we had to find inspiring images, then we had to make a scetch of what we would like our costume to look like

Day 13

Today was so tiring , I mean, he thought that if he kept on trying that he would eventually escape from me. We eventually caught him after some time. We killed him, but it took so long that my fanner fainted from the heat. When I finally got back to my palace it was ten after two in the afternoon. We had my daughter's favorite meal hares; she has a great sense of taste as that was my favorite meal as well when I was a boy. All that we did for the rest of the day is play tic-tac-toe.

Today 17 years ago my uncle Julius had been assassinated, on that particular day we had decided to spend the night over and after dinner when we all went to bed he decided to go outside for a quick breath of fresh air, at that time the assassin took that opportunity, had an easier time killing him since he didn't need to go inside. Next day we went outside and we saw our uncle just lying on the ground with a big gold dagger stuck in his heart.

Tonight to remember him we all had cake like we do every year, after that we all went to sleep except for me, just lying there wondering if my turn was ever going to come.

Day 57

Today was a normal day until my son Tiberius because i said that he couldn’t go over to his cousins house but at least had my guards that could go and find her. The guards finally found her, she was just hiding at my brothers house after she heard the guards come in, after that we all as a family went out for a picnic, we were finishing up our special pomegranates seeds soaked in citron juice. that night we didn't do much at dinner, until one of my guards ran in telling me that some bad people had gotten through the gates and that i needed to get into the underground safe house underneath my house the caught him and we all finished our dessert and went to bed.

Day 81

Today was a normal day, we all woke-up to a very happy day today, today is my birthday, when I went downstairs to the kitchen to see that all of my family and a breakfast buffet just laid out before me. halibut, apples, pomegranates, citrons, pork, and wine to dip bread in. After that delicious scene we went to go see my Aunt and all of my brothers and sisters, the kids play with my nieces and nephews until lunch where we had some fruits since none of us were hungry after the humungous brunch, after that we all played an extremely hard and dangerous game of tic-tac-toe, after beating everyone i went home to rest, when i woke up i wasn't in my bed i was in the kitchen where stood my wife children and guess what another giant mouth watering to die for dinner buffet, i finished my food ate a special fruit cake and went upstairs where i had a big stomach ache from having so much rich meats and juicy fruits, crawled slowly into bed and fell asleep instantly.

Day 204

Today we are going to start enforcing the street system i created, this way we are able to have an organized way of getting around and finding places. This day is very important to me because we are going to start something that i created that will actually work, the one thing is that it means a lot of work and money to get this all organized. After I announced the plan I went to lunch, since i wasn’t very hungry after all of this work, it makes me a little nervous so i had bread with red wine. During lunch I told my wife and kids my main plan for my system, after we went to the north to tell them about my plan for the streets. My family and i spent the rest of the day in the northern part, since we didn't know the area very much it felt like an adventure. After we look around the northern town and looking at little trinkets that some of the people of the town had made and intended to sell. The ride back home was long, when we got home we were starving and had steak after that we all went straight to bed.

The Ancient civilization of rome was located on the medditerranian side of europe.

Current day rome is in italy. The terrain that ancient roman was located on were flat lands near water with hills all around it for protection. The weather in ancient rome is the same as todays weather in rome, cold in the winter, and hot and humid in the helped htat they were close to the water so they had access to fish and access to water to travel across the water and transport stuff. With the hills all around they had some extra protection.

Historical Events

Ancient rome was very organized and had a well trained army. Rome fell because it wasn’t in good health with its army, economics, and polical parts, the people were rebeling and there were vary many people starving and sick. In 27 bc Augustis ceaser beat his sibings and becam ruler of the roman empire, and instead of becoming a king he decided to become emperor. 48 bc ceaser wins the battle, defeating pomey who flees to egypt where he is killed. Augustus ceasar has became a man.

As the roman empire began to take over most of europe most romans. The romans useually traded for slaves.

could trade with the people form these coultries Spain, France, North Africa and the Middle East. The ancient roman government was a democrasy. A democracy is a form of government where all citizes have an equal say in the decisions that affect their lives.

The ancient romans religion was very similar to the greeks, as they had many gods, they belived that evry god had a specific job. They borrowed many of their gods from the Greeks, but unlike Greek gods, theirs did not have the same personality, they were more cold and formal. The Romans lived under the gods and constantly tried to please them. Saturnalis is a three day long festival where every one takes three days off from their jobs and duties. There is also the ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia which honored love.

Daily life/Culture

The ancient roman life was very basic take care of the childeren go to work go back home eat then sleep. Men would do labor intensive jobs and make thing s where woman werent aloud to go to school and useually stayed home. The attire depended on what job they had and how much they got paid, for example a farmer

would wear not so nice but durable clothing and the emperor would wear luxurious robes

Coral Reef PSA

Background Research

Alex Lester

The direct way  humans destroy coral reefs is by physically killing them. This happens all over the world, but especially in the Philippines. Divers catch the fish that live in and around coral reefs, they sell these fish to fancy restaurants in Asia and to fancy pet stores in the United States. This would be OK if the divers caught the fish carefully with nets and didn't hurt the reefs or take too many fish. The divers want lots of fish and most of them are not very well trained at fish catching. A lot of the time they blow up a coral reef with explosives and then catch all the stunned fish swimming around. This completely destroys the reefs, and the creatures that do survive are left homeless. Another way that divers catch coral reef fish is with cyanide. The divers pour this poison on the reef, which stuns the fish and kills the coral. Then they rip open the reef with crowbars and catch the fish while they are sick from the poison to swim away, the poison kills 90% of the fish that live in the reef and the reef is completely destroyed both by the poison and then by being ripped apart.

The indirect way corals are dying is warming of the ocean causes corals to get sick and die, even the slight rise of one degree in the average water temperature can hurt the coral. Due to global warming, 1998 was the hottest year in the last six centuries and 1998 was the worst year for coral. The most obvious sign that coral is sick is coral bleaching. That is when either the algae inside die, or the algae leaves the coral. The algae are what give coral its color, so without the algae the coral has no color and the white of the limestone shell shines through the clear coral bodies. People have been noticing coral bleaching since the turn of the century, but since the 1980s it gotten really bad, the warmer the water and the more nutrients there are also encourages the growth of harmful algae on top of the coral, which kills it because it blocks out the sun. Without the sun, the zooxanthellae cannot perform photosynthesis and so they die. Without the zooxanthellae, the coral polyps die too. This algae is usually eaten by fish, but because of overfishing, there aren't enough fish left to eat all the algae. And the pollution we dump in the ocean is just what the algae needs to grow and be healthy, which means covering and eventually killing the coral reefs.

According to research and tests that scientist have done they have estimated that all corals will be gone by the end of this century.

the noaa announced on november 30, 2012 that is it proposing an endangered species act (ESA) to cover 66 coral species.

10 Easy Steps to Help Protect Coral Reefs

Do you want to make a difference every day? Want to learn about simple, effective actions you can take to help save coral reefs and the fish, animals, and plants that depend on them? You've come to the right place!

  1. Conserve water: The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater will pollute our oceans.

  2. Help reduce pollution: Walk, bike or ride the bus. Fossil fuel emissions from cars and industry raise lead to ocean warming which causes mass-bleaching of corals and can lead to widespread destruction of reefs.

  3. Use only ecological or organic fertilizers: Although you may live thousands of miles from a coral reef ecosystem, these products flow into the water system, pollute the ocean, and can harm coral reefs and marine life.

  4. Dispose of your trash properly: Don't leave unwanted fishing lines or nets in the water or on the beach. Any kind of litter pollutes the water and can harm the reef and the fish.

  5. Support reef-friendly businesses: Ask the fishing, boating, hotel, aquarium, dive or snorkeling operators how they protect the reef. Be sure they care for the living reef ecosystem and ask if the organization responsible is part of a coral reef ecosystem management effort.

  6. Plant a tree: Trees reduce runoff into the oceans. You will also contribute to reversing the warming of our planet and the rising temperatures of our oceans. Help us Plant a Billion.

  7. Practice safe and responsible diving and snorkeling: Do not touch the reef or anchor your boat on the reef. Contact with the coral will damage the delicate coral animals, and anchoring on the reef can kill it, so look for sandy bottom or use moorings if available.

  8. Volunteer for a coral reef cleanup: You don't live near a coral reef? Then do what many people do with their vacation: visit a coral reef. Spend an afternoon enjoying the beauty of one of the most diverse ecosystems on the Earth.

  9. Contact your government representatives: Demand they take action to protect coral reefs, stop sewage pollution of our oceans, expand marine protected areas and take steps to reverse global warming.

  10. Spread the word: Remember your own excitement at learning how important the planet's coral reefs are to us and the intricate global ecosystem. Share this excitement and encourage others to get involved. Send a free coral reef e-card today!a
